Well over a year ago The King Lot went into the studio to record the debut album. With the view of the power trio getting ready to start the real and modern day rock and roll revolution., it was paramount that the Bass sound was strong and ready to lay the foundations of what would be an amazing journey in the next 24 months.
As we all know we get to view ads describing bass amps as the next best thing, the stable dietary commitment of any budding musician, continually bombard us. A trip and research across the web led to the TC electronic site.
Now straight away, at the time, buy and amp head and cab and get a 2nd cab free is a no brainer! That’s just what TC Electronic where giving at the time. A little look into the deal and then it comes apparent that this is something that any bassist would really consider.
In a nut shell the BH5000 head is tasty. It gives you everything you could want for the small sized club right up to the big sea of faces gigs.
SOME OF THE LIKES
Input gain selector - This allows you to set the input with a peak led light that tells you there to much going in, this is very useful and easy to use when needing to get levels fast.
Spectra Comp – gives you peace of mind that you can feel comfortable using dynamics in your playing without it peaking, the visual compression LED are cool.
Tone control – these knobs are very good indeed, there is so much play in them, just a touch gives you so much change which means that there are so many options but only 4 EQ switches to worry about.
Tube tone – this is my favourite and really can give you that extra bit of waaaahhhhhh that you need in a live setting. This is such a godsend in The King Lot live sound as it helps fill out the tone and gives that crunch that all bassists should have in their armoury.
The amp set up of 2x10 and 2 x 12 cabs were used for the recording of The King lot album on a DI basis and a Mic scenario. On both occasions they were a winner this was due to the tone controls giving you everything you could need. This amp will be a major contributor to the success of the exciting times ahead for The King Lot release of the our debut album.
THE KING LOT TOUR.
The king lot are heading towards the final two dates of their winter staggered tour. This amp has been amazing through the dates providing the punch, the power, and the slab, which has all, laid the foundations for a successful performance.
1 – The set up has never let me down.
2 – The versatility of the tower stack or lower stack has help provide space.
3 - The strength of the set up has stood the test of time over the last year with getting thrown about venues, back of cars, vans and tour trucks.
4 – the proof in the pudding is when sound engineers come to you and ask what are you playing through that is an amazing sound.
I like things basic, no fooling around, get in, plug in and be confident that you are going to get a good sound.
JASON SWEENEY EP - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/jason-sweeney/id910750718
This set up has also been used on the acoustic Jason Sweeney Ep released earlier this year and again it showed its versitality and provided a great tone for the sounds its self. The lot sound is hard hitting melodic rock and can been seen here at the latest video.
THE FUTURE – The King Lot are in talks just now with a lot of very talented and professional industry people surrounding them. Next year is panning out to be one of the most important ever in my life musically and the next step of the King Lot with the organisation of Uk tour supports, release of the album, European festivals and other associated exciting rock and roll adventures.
Its important that everything goes just right and the continuation of the TC electronic in the live sound of the band is comfortable feeling. I have confidence in the build, that values its brought and I would heavily recommend any bassist to try these guys out.
Great times, great life, great people.
