The first King Lot gig of the year saw us at the liquid rooms in Edinburgh supporting FM. We arrived on time but the FM guys didn't arrive to late due to some problems with sat Nav. It was a really tight time schedule to sound check. Some of the audience were actually coming in while we were setting up. One thing i can say about The King Lot is that we are super fast and getting our sound and probably making it easy on the sound engineers. I have found that a lot of these guys seem to really do a good job for us, probably because we don't take much of their time up.
We finished sound checking around 7.10pm and we were on at 7.30. The room quickly filled up and we were good to go. The crowd seemed really interested and the response was strong. I couldn't believe how a month off from singing would effect a 30 minutes show. I was really out of shape. I warmed up as usual but i was quickly out of breath due to jumping about a little. I need to get fitter!
Vocally i was pleased with my performance but i will be looking at my anchoring technique. I felt there were points when i wasn't allowing myself enough room to reach notes and so my effort felt like it was doubled and so this put a little strain on my performance.
The whole gig was success the FM guys were great to watch but most of all these were really cool guys. Out of all the gigs we have done with bigger bands not many have taken the time to speak to me but these guys really made an effort. I actually found that i liked there music more because of this ha ha ha. The songs they do are really good, some may say that its cheesy 80's rock but i love that stuff and its the kind of music i want to be involved with. Its all about doing what you want to do.
