Tonight we were first on, supporting Glasgow band Afterlife. THey are really nice guys and a great band also. I love it when you meet great and CALM sound engineers and the guys at Stereo Cafe where really good, they couldn't have been nicer and more relaxed. One things that bugs me is when a band soundcheck they run through a whole song! WHY? do a verse stop fix it! do a chorus stop! fix it! someone in the band take the lead and ask the guys what they are missing! this cuts times down especially when there is only 30 mins to go before opening the door.
There are many things the King Lot can be proud of but one of them is definitely our ability to be professional and use our experience to make sound checks go as simple as possible. We run through a chorus of One of THese days where we are all singing and we know what we need to hear, we get that right then we move on to individuals stuff, i ask the guys what they need and i give out the information to the sound engineer. Thats how its done!
We did 30 mins and to be honest something sounded out of tune and i kept checking my bass but it was perfect! mike checked his guitar and it was fine also! its a strange one! this has happened before and i just had the guitar set up so need to investigate a little further.
One thing that is evident is i need to do more cardio for my singing voice as i get so into it i lose breath and thats not where i want to be. However i got through it and it was great to see so many heads nodding.
THe people that were hear tonight were so cool speaking to after the gig and its always great to see the normally faces there, feeling a little blessed because of this. It almost seems that all the years of hard work is starting to pay off. i looking forward to the other dates of the tour. Ps the pics from this gig where amazing.
