a successful gig on saturday. People seemed to love it more in the first half, lots of drink going about which made amusement for us.
I learned the importance of tempo this weekend and this is something that has been causing me bother for a while.
As a singer, when you learn a song, you break it down, you map out the verse the chorus the bridge etc, learn where you need to be and most importantly you learn where you can BREATH and how long you have. The problem with tempo is that if the song goes faster, singers have less time to breathe, to compose for the next line.
In turn this can cuase you to either do too much on the one breath or not have enough breath to do the line of pitch. Over the last few weeks ive seen how this can effect my voice and how it can dampen confidence and performance.
It is imperative that when bands communicate they know the importance of this as it can damage the old vocal folds.
Its a a funny old game singing, so much prep needs done.
