Reflection on research stories

Over the last few days i have been going through the concert observations looking to bring them into the same format. I came across a couple of highlights that made me realise what good news stories i have been able to witness.

The woman crying as her dad was responding to the song - This was a moment that got me worried i remember singing and the woman crying and i thought OMG what have i done. It wasn't till after that she came up and told me that it had been so long that she seen her father respond in such a way and enjoy himself. What i observed was nothing more than you would see a person do in everyday life but for this patient it was something that he hadn't done in a while, simple engament.

The woman who spoke to me about music after not saying anything for 3 months -
In a concert a woman spoke to me about the songs i had played and the songs she liked and she encouraged me to play more chart music which was a challenge but as i muddled through it she smiled. I remember the nurses eyes popping out of her head. I had no idea what was going on. I was later told that her engagement and interest in the music was something to be seen, She hadn't spoken in nearly three months.

The woman that wanted to sing that when she did the nurse cried as she had the realisation that music was the communication tool - There was woman that i asked if she knew a old Nancy Sinatra song and she said il sing that one, and so she did, she did it almost in a operatic voice, This engagement was half way through the set. The nurse that looked after her was crying at the side (tear in the eye) it turns out they had been trying to communicate for a while but with no great response, they now knew that music was her interest.

The element of surprise is everywhere doing the concerns. You go into them not really knowing the background of the clients and then when they start talking to you, you don't raise an eyebrow. However for the staff its a different situation as they see it everyday they can see the difference that music in a one hour concert can bring.

Music is amazing and the things it can do yo people is amazing.
