I think its fair to say that Tony the Morans bar owner would have been pleased tonight. A great turn out for the first ever Moransbar.com open mic night.
I started the night off with 3 songs, bad moon rising, stuck in the middle and one of my own same ole situation. I was pleased with the performance but boy did some of the other performers open my eyes!
second up was Maria Doherty, maria is vocalist im working with in a function band for music for scotland. I played guitar for her and she did a great great job. A liitle technical problem wit the mic but she handled it well and sang very well. three songs Valarie, price tag and merc. out of the three i would say mercy was the best as it had tuns of feeling and seemed to grasp the crowds interest... its a pleasure to assist such a talented singer.
Laura Brown was up next, what a guitar a baby jumbo Gibson... amazing guitar... again very talented girl who played at the same time.. i love seeing that, did a great lady gaga song and really got the crowd up and running...
annette chapman was next and played a totally blinder.. what a voice! all her own songs some patriotic ones in there as well. no sheet music, great banter between songs and really showed how to sing... Annette is the senior lectura at SCE and that is for a reason, her experience and ability is second to none. Annette is backed up by her husband Calum.. he aint shabby on the old twanger... knows how to assist a singer and blended in to the songs supporting Annette, taking the velocity down and raising it up when needed Calum gave a great performance and had a lot of the other guitarists in the room paying attention!
Ross Mitchell took to the stage next and showed that he means business.. its fair to say that he will definetly be playing a full set at Moransbar.com in the near future.. great tone to his voice and a great player on the guitar... very impressed with this lad! one to watch..
Robbie summers and his pals finished the night off with some really funny stuff and had everyone in the bar laughing with their funny songs and their happy chappy hunour... really good to see the
