Jason Blume Book8/3/2016 ![]() I read Jason Blume book this Feb as part of my one book a month commitment. Its pretty hard going fitting it in but if its something you want to do you need to do it... study study study... The book is great, at least the four chapters are as they concentrate on the craft of writting. In Jan i read Ralph Murphys book and its funny how bot of them are by my side and rereading the first when i still reading this. They compare similar approaches but its easy to see the difference in their outlook. Im getting tuns from reading these books and i can see a big difference in my own approach particularly towards the forms i write in. I touched on this last month but its amazing how many rock songs are similar in form such as ABAB, or for in similar terms, verse chorus verse chorus. All the song i love seem to repeat a similar form. The biggest thing i got from this book is how to rewrite your lyrics. There have been many times when i have written what i thought i wanted to say but this book teaches you how to write a line then critique it from a different view. Its amazing the results you can get from that and how sometimes you come right back in full circle to where you started from. There is so much to learn and implement but its a great way to spend a few hours. REWRITE REWRITE REWRITE
