Improvisation list
Autumn leaves - Bb major

I find it a little difficult even tho the scale is easy. The fight to keep it simple but varied is a difficult one. When singing the scat, you don't have the visual reference so the need to listen is greater if that makes any sense at all. I think the idea of rehearsing the scale is a good one for me.

This masquerade - still to work on

Freddie loader - Bb blues - take it slow - still to work on

so what - George benson - still to work on

It can be pretty hard working in a big band. Peoples attention seems to drift, with far too much mucking about. this can  e really frustrating as you just want to get on with the job.

Started with direction from Robin which was a god send because i think the attention slip would still be going on.  Robin took the guitar and played very little but it was so effect and on the beat which made the whole thing sound massive… strange how it works, the solo was then built up with runs.

Lesson, start slow, stimulate with very little then if needed create sweeps of the scale.

Create the idea of space.
