Improvisation Lesson 1st Feb 2013

Today we looked at The standard Jazz Blues

The chord structure we used was

F7/Bb7/F7/Cm7/F7/Bb7/Bo/F7/Am7/D7/Gm7/C7/Am7/D7/Gm7/C7

I had a eureka moment today. All this time I have been just scatting over the Blues scale, however by mistake I hit a dissonant note and resolved it and kept the pattern that’s when Robin said, “that’s it”

I feel I have finally got what we are looking for. Its difficult to come off the scale and resolve it and replicate that pattern.

Amy our pianist hit it on the head and demonstrated what Robin was looking for which helped cement the goods he was looking for.

For me to do this I would need to be confident in singing the scales out so well that I can wander off them and know where to come back to, this is a hard thing because im a visual person and my instrument is invisible.

More work to be done.
