brilliant session today, everything went like clock work....  everyone turned up... we got in the studio, Jason, Ryan and donal and Charlie went to work getting the desk in check while I set up the mic.

I have posted photos and descriptions on the vocal page of this site to give more in depth details towards what was used and some photos have been added also.

I decided to eliminate any noise or bouncing of sounds I would surround myself with soundboards to dampen the sound see pictures.

In the middle I had my music stand and then I had my mic and headphone mixer set up... I am ready...

We got a good mix in the headphones pretty quickly, which let me get to work straight away.

In my first run through it didn’t sound the way it did when I was practicing... but then again my voice is completely different towards James Hetfield.

I looked at his breathing techniques that he does towards the end of sentences which helped me in getting the lines right. After a few takes I felt it was really weak and that it just wasn’t going to cut the mustard!

Charlie gave me a great idea and suggested I do a talking line underneath the main vocal to thicken it up!!! Wooooohooo it worked a total treat and the track hasn’t even been mixed! Ya beauty!

We managed to get the track done quickly, which I was pleased with and this is an indication that if you do your homework it will pay dividends.

For the middle prayer part where there is a young boy/girl voice we decided to ask Ami one of the other students who is blind… Ami is really talented, I remember the first time I heard her play the piano; I nearly fell off my chair.

Ami had a listen to the track and had never heard it before and pulled it off one take however we asked her to do another incase we needed it later, really proud of her for doing that. Excellent work with her friend Sarah assisting her with getting to the studio and help us set up in the short time frame we needed.

Now we only have the mixing to do and some bits of guitar… great work from the team and our guests today
