Blaenavon work Mans Hall
Down to the south of Wales we go into the valley's. The valley's are amazing amazing sweeping tress no phone signal and crazy roads. This was the night we met up with old friends Firewood. They are a great band and really nice guys. There was a problem with the booking only the week before when a promoter for the venue Fuel said that he double booked both bands and as a result the show got cancelled. Kerry the radio presenter got the gig moved to the new venue and what a place it was. It was an old dance hall. He had the PA shipped in and when we arrived at our digs there was a stand alone betting shop there also.
The first band were called Crowsaw. They were really cool, great sound, three piece with a great guitarist bass player and drummer. They played to a click so you could hear how tight they were. We were second on the bill for this show. The bass sound was great. I was using plectrums that were too thick and so my playing was very rigid. Again the lesson here is don't experiment on the road, do this in practice and get the sound right on the night, its all about setting yourself up for success.
The sound on stage for vocal etc was brilliant. All the bands were commenting on it and were asking if we had brought our own guys. I had a laugh at this.
Our show was a good one and it was great to see Mr fleming fly from Glasgow to see the night. He is a great guy and fan of Fireroad also. Firewood and great guys. They played really well, they have great songs and everyone of them can really play. The guitarist Gav has a great set up and his solos were brilliant. Hats off to the charesmatic Richard Jones, He is a gent, so interesting to listen to and i like his songs and I hope he does well as he wears his heart on his sleeve.
Overall it was a good night, but I'm looking forward to the day off in Cardiff, well we are releasing the material for LOVE HATE then its an indian then straight to bed as we are heading to LONDON BABY.
