Wales here we come

Picture
It was a long drive from Glasgow to Wales. We were tired as we had a few drinks the night before but at the same time I was excited to be going to play in wales for the first time. Glasgow was brilliant so I was wondering how Wales would be. The venue we were playing at is the one we will be playing with LOVEHATE in the next few weeks and low and behold as we walked in we saw a poster. I cant wait for this it will be great.

The stage was big, really deep and the dressing room we were given looked straight onto the stage so that was really cool. Again we didn't get a long sound check but that has to be expected when your third on the bill, to be fair neither band got a chance to do a long one. There seemed to be problems with the monitors. Watching The Electric Boys and Dan Reed battle this was interesting. These guys are used to working with the high professionals in the industry and tonight I was asking myself questions on the guys that were doing it. They seemed nice enough but i wasn't to sure about the time spent on getting the mix right.

Stage Time

Straight away when we went on I was feeling a little rushed and my voice was tired. My diet and alcohol  intake over the last few days after the shows, with late night and long travel has definitely been effected. I found i was really horse and out of breath. This is something i need to change and quickly.

I announced that we would be back with LOVE HATE so we decided to do Black out in the red room. This was a mistake vocally. I could sweep up to the high parts at all. If your doing this song in front of people who know the stuff then you really need to be doing it right. I was a little annoyed at myself for that. The sound of the monitors didn't help me it seemed my voice was getting lost.

As we came off stage the sound guy said we did well and that we got a big cheer for a support band so again something positive from the performance.

DAN REED NETWORK  & ELECTRIC BOYS

I noticed the Electric boys have a few sound issues. There was one point where the guitar started blasting out. I later heard that the monitor engineer nodded off and leant on the fader. Jesus christ, what is going on here!

Dan Reed came on and stopped the show 30 seconds into the performance. Iv never seen this happen before. He started sorting the monitor mix and then connoted with the show. I was impressed he did this as most band s would just continue on. He stop got it fixed and went on to do an amazing performance.

I have been continuing to learn more and more just by watching these guys and going with the flow. Its pretty inspiring.
