Pretty successful practice considering we are still a member down... It's really difficult if even if one person doesn't show up or some folk don't learn their part. There was a massive difference this week compared to last week. It looks like everyone finally learnt their part. the tunes we covered were
ACDC highway to hell
KT Tunstall black horse and a cherry tree
Gerry Rafferty Baker Street
Rod Stewart Maggie May
All songs went well especially Black horse and a cherry tree as we decided to do the acoustic version where the majority of us are playing some type of percussion instrument. Its been pretty good fun especially when everyone is doing the woohoo!!!
The down fall is sharing other people with other bands such as the keys player and the bassist. As a result they are not there for half the time which makes it hard. Gary wasn't with us today so I brought my guitar in and tried to cover as much as the guitars as possible but it's not the same `s having the full band together. I really hope that when Gary is back he has his part nailed. Im sure and confident he will coz he is a fantastic player.
Good conversation with Nik the drummer when he echoed my thoughts and frustrations that practice should be about practicing not working out parts. The biggest lesson iv learned is that profile is so important when coming together with other musicians, you need to learn your part because if you don't you will look like a fool. Ive worked hard to remember the words, this is something ive always struggled with, Ive got Highway to Hell down  however I still struggle with memorising Maggie May. If I see the first word im there. Its been good experience to play and sing today as its easy to sit behind the lead guitarist in a band situation and have the guitar as a security blanket.
Im confident that we will do the job on Thursday night.
